This time the box was clearly marked with Windows 7 being a compatible option (Windows 7 was not listed on the box of my original MB WE)Ģ It will not install. I also must mention that they seem to have an infestation of maple bugs. The gift shop has lots of selection from $2 toys for the kids to precious stones and fossils worth hundreds of dollars. The indoor playground is restricted for those 4ft and under, so only one of my children (ages 7 & 9) could use it. The kids did have fun, but we found ourselves hard pressed to spend more than an hour there. There is a wall climb there as well which we chose not to do this time around (there was yet another additional fee for it!). The museum is a collection of about 8 glass cases, enough to give parents something to look at while the kids dig. The kids had a good time 'mining' for minerals and 'digging' for fossils, but the admission price ($20/child for museum, mining and fossil dig) seems a little steep. I went with them for the first time this past weekend and I'm sort of undecided. My kids have been on several field trips to Fossil World and they have always enjoyed themselves. Finding fossils and gems all on their own. This is not the Tyrrell museum, it is an opportunity for kids to do the things they fantasize about while in the Tyrrell. Don't go if you don't have kids, but if you do, they are so fully engaged, you have some time to read the plaques under the select fossils.ĥ. The activities are probably best for kids under 11Ĥ. It is likely that one may only spend 10 to 15 minutes at Fossil World, depending on your level of interest in the display fossils. The facility is relatively small, with very limited content say in comparison to Tyrrell. Informational posters state that there isn't a correlation between anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions and climate change, and that a future magnetic field reversal could be a catastrophic event- neither of these opinions are supported by the current scientific consensus. Additional fees for 'gem mining' and 'fossil dig' activities are expensive. Had several interesting and unique fossil specimens on display. $6 general admission fee was not terribly out of line. 'Fossil dig' pit was filled with pieces of recycled tire rubber, which is a good choice for kids.

Staff were friendly, and were great in helping my son with the 'fossil dig' activity. It is realistic enough that it may scare small children. Here is a pro/con list of our visit and of Fossil World in general: However, Fossil World should consider re-branding itself as a 'fun center' and not as a museum, since it lacks some of the scientific rigor of a proper museum. He had a great time, and I think the facility is well-suited to families with kids. We took our dinosaur-obsessed two-year-old to Fossil World during a recent trip to Drumheller.
